Dr. Anitza M. San Miguel serves as the Dean of Science at Valencia College, Osceola Campus. Prior to joining Valencia College, Dr. San Miguel was a full-time Assistant Professor at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). She served as the Interim Dean and Interim Associate Dean for the Science and Applied Technologies Division at NOVA. She served as the Assistant Dean of Science. As a full-time faculty member, she taught General Biology, Microbiology, and Cell Biology courses.
Prior to working at NOVA, Dr. San Miguel worked at the National Institutes of Health for nine years, as a student (earning a post baccalaureate IRTA – Intramural Research Training Award),full-time federal employee, and contractor. She has also worked at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Examiner in the Biomedical Engineering Unit.
Dr. San Miguel has a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from The George Washington University, a master’s degree in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico.
